Some people ask..."I only want a family pet, what is the difference between a puppy from a reputable breeder
and one from the pet store, or classified ad?"
Click here to understand the differences.

We work hard to produce the best possible Labrador, which to us is a quality dog with sound temperament and body. Our past puppies compete in competitions, are personal hunting companions, work at search and rescue, and most importantly are special members of families.

In our breeding program, we believe Labradors should be true to the AKC breed standard as well as free from inheritable health conditions.  We strive to place our puppies in wonderful lifelong homes. All of our breeding dogs have Orthopedic Foundation for Animals joint and heart clearances, eye clearances including CERF and Optigen and have DNA profiles & microchips. All of our dogs are also current on vaccinations, heartworm & internal parasite preventative, and flea & tick control as well as possess wonderful temperaments.

All puppies are whelped and raised on the main floor of our home, so they are the center of daily family life and receive frequent cuddling and playtime with us. They leave for their new homes no sooner than 8 weeks of age. Before they leave with their new families, they are vaccinated for their age (we follow 7, 11 & 15 weeks and annually thereafter), wormed for their age (we follow 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks and monthly thereafter as included in Heartgard Plus). They also are microchipped, have had their first CERF(eye) exam and are vet checked for health and congenital problems. Our puppies are well socialized to include people, children, cats, dogs, toys, wings and water (weather permitting). After much debate and consulting with leaders in the veterinary field we no longer remove dewclaws on our puppies.

Our puppies also come with paperwork including information about and pictures of the parents, copies of health certifications for both parents (OFA/CERF), feeding, socializing, care and training tips for the puppy and a copy of their written health warranty. We highly recommend you locate a 'puppy kindergarten' class, make contact with a veterinarian and take time to 'puppy-proof' your home and yard prior to your new family member arriving.

All puppies are sold with AKC Limited Registration which includes a spay/neuter agreement. This means the puppy can not be bred or shown in conformation, but may be shown in obedience, hunting tests, agility and other performance events. This is one tool that allows us to combat pet overpopulation and irresponsible breeding.

We have put all we can into producing the best and have done these breeding for ourselves, hoping to get to keep something from the litter. We have first choice of any litter we breed. We must speak with you personally to make sure our puppy is a good fit for both you, the puppy and us. You should be prepared to pay $800 - $1200 for a well bred puppy from a responsible breeder.

We usually have a waiting list for our puppies.  Anyone interested in a Huntmor puppy or adult/adolescent dog should fill out a application.
